It was a long day of racing and perhaps a few tempo runs at Carrollton Last Chance as evidenced by a few of the top athletes competing. Nineteen 1A & 2A schools were registered for the early and chilly 8:00am Boys start. However, only nine started with the others opting to run in later races. Galloway Boys proved they are title contenders beating several ranked squads. Friedman strolled to 1st in 16:47. Landmark's Girls (sans Kathryn Foreman who is nursing an injury) won the Girls race with Nicole Fegans and Sarah Foreman taking 1st and 2nd.
Here is a collage of shots of the Winners and Contenders from the MS Championship Races. Enjoy! There is a 4 shot sequence of the incredible finish in the Large School Girls race included.
A beautiful grove of pecan trees provided an ideal setting for the 33rd Annual Westover Invitational. Heavy storms the night before moved out to leave clear skies for a record number of enthusiastic runners. Comprised of forty-six Varsity Teams and fourteen Middle School Teams, the competitors gathered at the start to test the newly designed, relatively fast course at Robert Cross Middle School in Albany, GA.
The Georgia International Horse Park provided the perfect venue on this overcast and cooler morning for runners to turn in terrific performances. In the White (Championship) Varsity race, Lakeside Junior, Davis Stockwell, and Shannon Fair of Aquinas emerged victorious in the most competitive races of the day.
