A Public Girls Team 1st Outlook (based on Returners and Pr's from 2018)
The 2019 Girls Cross Country season for A-Public should be a season of three's. Gracie O'Neal of Gordon Lee, the two time individual state title winner is back for a third. Speaking of three in a row, Telfair County is looking to take the team title for the third time in succession. Despite losing runners to graduation, the teams return the talented trio of Paige White, Shayla Cook and Bailie Graham. ACE Chater looks primed to make a real run at Telfair County for the title. Katelyn Taylor and Oliva Lowrimore are a good top two, but they need a little more consistency from their other runners to challenge for the title. Georgia Military College Prep is the third major contender for the 2019 title. Led by Senior Mattison Strom and a bevy of underclassmen, this could be the season that the Lady Bulldogs claim a podium spot or more. Much will depend on the ability of the freshmen runners to improve and contribute. Other schools that could break onto the podium would be Gordon Lee, Atlanta Classical and Hawkinsville. Individuals that could challenge for the top five would include the defending state champion, Gracie O'Neal of Gordon Lee, Brett Landing of Jenkins County, Paige White and Shayla Cook of Telfair County, and Maya Wynn of Furlow Charter. The fun thing about A-Public is that there is always so much unknown during the season on individuals and teams. It is possible that some unheralded runner or team could have raced under the radar all season, only to emerge very strong.
