KENNESAW, Ga. – Seeking All- America Honors and a top-35 finish at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championship, junior Nabil Hamid will compete for a national title on Monday, Nov. 21, in Terre Haute, Ind.

The venue for the event will be the LaVern Gibson Championship Course located at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center, hosted by Indiana State.

Hamid has been the catalyst for head coach Stan Sims men’s squad as the native of Ethiopia captured the Georgia State Invitational in September, as well as recording a pair of runner-up finishes at the Auburn Invitational and the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship. For his efforts, Hamid was honored at each event including earning All A-Sun First Team Honors.

The Championship will mark the second 10k race of the season for Nabil as he posted a sixth place finish and a time of 31:10.00 at the NCAA South Regional in Tuscaloosa, Ala., earning him the honors of being named to the NCAA South All Region Team by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

“I have put in a lot of hard work this season to qualify for Nationals,” Hamid said. “To win Nationals would be a dream come true. I am going to try my best and hopefully I will finish in the top-36 to receive All-America Honors.”

Monday’s Championship races are slated to begin with the men taking the gun at 12:08 p.m. (ET), with the women set to follow at 12:58.

A live webcast of the championships will be broadcast from noon to 1:30 p.m. ET, Monday, Nov. 21 at NCAA.com. In addition, highlights from the championships will be included as part of the CBS NCAA Fall Seasonal Show scheduled to air on Saturday, Dec. 18, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. ET on CBS HD.
