NEW ORLEANS, La. – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recognized 450 athletes that earned All-Region awards for cross country in Division I following this weekend’s NCAA Regional Championships. Athletes of member schools that finished in the top 25 individually at one of the nine regional sites earned the honor.

Kennesaw State’s Nabil Hamid and Ryan Burruss were each honored after their performance at the NCAA South Regional in Tuscaloosa, Ala., where Nabil finished sixth out of 159 competitors with a time of 31:10 and Burruss placed 20th with a time of 32:43.

“These two guys deserve whatever honors they get,” head coach Stan Sims said. “You can always count on them to run a solid race. They bring it from the start of the gun until they cross the finish line.”

For his efforts of a top-10 finish, Hamid will advance to compete at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships, Nov. 21 at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course located at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Ind.

“I knew what it took to earn this award before the race,” Hamid said. “It was my mission to earn the honor and I am proud to be a part of a list that includes the top runners from across the nation.”

The men’s race is slated to begin at approximately 12:08 p.m. ET, followed by the women’s race at approximately 12:58 p.m. A live webcast of the championships will be broadcast from noon to 1:30 p.m. ET on NCAA.com. In addition, highlights from the championships will be included as part of the CBS NCAA Fall Seasonal Show scheduled to air on Saturday, December 18, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. ET on CBS HD.
