KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's cross country team is geared up to compete in the 38th Annual Georgia State Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 17, in what will be their third event of the season.

The venue for the meet will be the Nash Farm Battlefield, the historic Civil War battle site that is located outside of Hampton, Ga., in Henry County, about 30 miles south of Atlanta.

Nash Farm Battlefield is an open field that contains rolling hills that provides runners with a challenge and gives spectators a good view of the student-athletes for the majority of the course. The course includes a two-kilometer grass loop with demanding hills, good footing with a small number of rough spots, and crossing over gravel paths frequently.

“We are looking forward to competing against a tough field and an in-state rival,” Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Andy Eggerth said. “We are still training at this point in the season, but running against competition and fighting is always good for the team.”

The Owls are set to face a strong field that is tentatively scheduled to include two teams regionally ranked in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division I poll: Georgia (fifth, South Region) and host Georgia State (10th, South Region). The field also includes Austin Peay, Clayton State, Morehouse, Tennessee Tech, Troy, UNC Wilmington, and West Georgia.

The women’s 6K race will begin at 11 a.m. For complete coverage of the Georgia State Invitational and all KSU women's cross country news, visit www.KSUOwls.com.
