Eggerth Nominated for South Region Award

Sits among elite for men's coach of the year

KENNESAW, Ga.- Coaching in only his first season for Kennesaw State track and field, head coach Andy Eggerth has been nominated for the South region Men's Coach of the Year by the USTFCCCA. The award field includes coaches from Florida, Florida State and Georgia.

Having already been named the Atlantic Sun Men's Outdoor Coach of the Year, Eggerth has made a huge impression in his first season with the Owls. Just a few weeks ago, the men's squad repeated as A-Sun Outdoor champions and earned him the Coach of the Year title.

Eggerth joined the Kennesaw State track team in September after a four year stint at Kansas State. His extensive resume includes not only assistant coach for Kansas State but University of Alabama-Birmingham as well. Eggerth holds holds a Level 2 certification from the USATF in combined events and throws and a Level 3 certification in jumps. He also has "Elite Coach" certification from the IAAF in sprints and hurdles.

"It’s an honor to be nominated by my peers as a finalist for the Regional Coach of the Year," Eggerth said. "I haven’t won anything, but it’s rewarding when other great coaches around us notice the hard work that we’re putting in.   My nomination is really a credit to the efforts of our staff and the great job of our athletes.  Most importantly, I need to thank the Lord, as it is from Him that all blessings flow."
