BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Competing for the second straight year in the track postseason, junior Kendall Parks has moved on to the quarterfinals of the NCAA East Region Preliminaries on Friday. In order for him to advance, he needed to finish in the top 24 of the event.

“Kendall ran a sloppy race but fortunately was still able to get away with it and be the fastest qualifier by time to move on to the quarterfinals," head track and field coach Andy Eggerth said. "The whole field ran slow today, but if Kendall does what he is capable of he will easily move on to the semifinals.”

Having made it to the quarterfinals last season, Parks once again makes his way to the next round. Racing in the fifth heat of the 110 meter hurdles, he finished in a time of 14.22 which would land him in 19th place overall out of 48 competitors.

Parks will return to the track on Saturday at 7:20 p.m. to try to make it to NCAA Division I Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa in two weeks. For him to move on to the semifinals, he must finish in the top 12 of tomorrow’s event. If he moves on, Parks will join fellow Owl Josh McNair in Iowa after he qualified for finals in shot put during yesterday’s competition.
