Emma Bussard has run well this season. 20:02 at the Clara Bowl, 19:35 at the Alexander/Asics Invitational and just a week ago, she posted a 19:16 at the Last Chance Invitational but she reached a ground breaking achievement when she broke 19 for the first time to post an 18:52 to win the Region 6-AAA meet on Thursday. It wasn\'t enough to lead her Carrollton team to the team title, as Cartersville won the title by 12 over the Lady Trojans but it was an amazing individual performance as she finished over a minute ahead of her closest competitor, Laura Fullre, of Cartersville, who finished in 19:57. Cartersville put 5 in the top 7 to take home the team trophy on Thursday.
On the boys side, Deon Andrews, of Carrollton, took home the individual championship with a 17:31 while Cartersville duplicated the girls effort by winning the team trophy by placing 5 in the top 10 led by Wes Dobson in 17:49 for a 2rd place finish.
