TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Traveling to Florida State for their second to last meet of the season, the Kennesaw State men’s and women’s track and field teams had a strong outing at the Florida State Twilight meet Friday and Saturday.

“All of our athletes performed really well this weekend,” head track and field head coach Andy Eggerth said. “On the men’s side, it was highlighted by two school records being broken by Josh McNair and Kendall Parks. Nearly all of the athletes had a season or personal best this weekend.”

Having already secured himself a spot in the NCAA Preliminaries at the end of the month, Parks broke his already held record in the 110 meter hurdles on Saturday. His time of 13.85 seconds beat the record by less than three tenths of a second, good enough for second place.

On the field side, Josh McNair earned a trip to prelims as well with a school record breaking performance in the shot put. Already owning the school record, McNair shattered it with a 17 meter even throw. He beat his previous best by two hundredths of a meter, well enough for third place.

Michelle Quimby had a solid weekend for the women in both the pole vault and high jump with season bests in both events. She finished fourth in the pole vault, clearing a top height of 3.66 meters. Senior Jakia Ragland joined Quimby in high jump with the duo going three and four in the event.

In his last season with the Owls, Gianni Catalano was able to qualify for the NCAA Prelims in the 800 meter race. Already outdoor conference champion in the event, Catalano used his time of 1:49.99 to qualify for the track postseason.

The Owls will continue their quest for NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships next weekend when they head to Clemson for the final qualifying meet.
