JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Kennesaw State men’s track and field team won their second straight Atlantic Sun Outdoor Conference Championship, beating ETSU by 66 points over the two day weekend. Going into Saturday’s competition, Kennesaw State already was sitting in first place and never looked back taking charge of the field.

Head track and field coach Andy Eggerth was given the A-Sun Men’s Outdoor Coach of the Year award for his performance with the team this weekend. For Eggerth, the weekend was a great showing of all the potential the team has.

“I am extremely proud of the job that all the kids did,” Eggerth said. “The men get so much recognition for winning the championship. Our team had a great weekend and is reflected in all the records that were broken whether it was personal, school or conference.”

Finishing up the final events of the decathlon, Brian Graham grabbed first in the 110 meter hurdles and 1500 meter race to close out the competition. Graham ended up in third overall, breaking the decathlon school record for total points with 6,471. Teammate Adam Reed got a first place finish in the discus and finished fourth overall.

After three straight weeks of crossing the line in 14.10 in the 110 meter hurdles, Kendall Parks finally blew away that time with a 13.76 finish good enough for first place. Later in the day, Parks added another gold medal and All-Conference award in the 4x100 along with teammates Antonio Logan, Jemir Martinez and Anjoun Armaly.

Later on that evening, Martinez would break the school record in the 200 meter race. His time of 21.38 seconds would beat the previous record by eight hundredths of a second. He finished fourth overall in the race.

Armaly continued his dominance during his first year at Kennesaw State, this time in the triple jump. With a jump of 14.90 meters, Armaly shattered Tyler Riberdy’s record of 14.19 meters from earlier this season. The first place finish gave Armaly his second gold medal of the day, giving him a total of two gold and one silver for the weekend.

Competing for the first time in the steeplechase, Nabil Hamid added another medal to his collection. The first time competitor finished second in the event followed by teammate Ryan Burruss in fifth and Andrew Greeson rounded out the group in 12th.

Graham and Reed competed in the most events over the two days out of anyone on the team. Graham was in 13 events while Reed had himself in 14 different contests. For coach Eggerth, it showed a lot that they put themselves out there for the team.

“A lot of the guys put themselves out there for the team and did well,” Eggerth said. “Brian and Adam were so strong over the weekend with all the events they participated in. They got out of their comfort zone and were able to still perform well.”
