KENNESAW,Ga.- Hitting the halfway point of their four day competition, three Kennesaw State men’s track and field athletes broke school records at three different meets on Friday March 25. Competing at three separate meets, Jaakko Nieminen, Brian Graham and Josh McNair etched their name in the Kennesaw State record books with outstanding performances.

In the same week he was awarded the Atlantic Sun Track Athlete of the Week award, Nieminen made a strong case of a possible repeat in the 10,000 meters. He, along with teammates Nabil Hamid, Ryan Burruss and Steven Murray traveled to North Carolina to compete in the Raleigh Relays Friday night. His time of 30:13.79 beat the old record of 30:41.73 and landed him in third. Hamid, Burruss and Murray also set new personal records for themselves during the race.

Traveling to Tuscaloosa Ala. for the Alabama Relays, Graham participated in the decathlon for the first time this season. Breaking his own school record of 6,040 points in the decathlon, Graham finished in seventh place with 6,072 points.

Staying in Georgia to compete at the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Georgia Tech, McNair improved on his finish in the hammer throw last weekend by almost two meters to land the new school record. His throw of 55.61 meters was good enough for second place and beat the old record held by McNair by over a foot.

The team continues competition today at Georgia Tech with the rest of the events. Several members of the team will return to Alabama Sunday to participate in the relays.
