SSU Competes In Shamrock Invitational

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.- The Savannah State track team competed in the Shamrock Invitational hosted by Coastal Carolina and the city of Myrtle Beach at Shaw Stadium.

Amara Jones won two events for the Savannah State women while Eric Plump who an event for the SSU men.

Jones won the women's 400m with a time of 54.78 and the 200m race with a time of 23.77.

Amber Hughes captured first place in the women's triple jump with a leap of 12.35m.

Aleah Hordges was third in the 400m race with a time of 57.15. The women's 4x400m relay team (Hordges, Jazy Seay-Blane, Hughes and Jones) was third in their event with a time of 3:48.91. Sharonda Redfield placed fourth in the triple jump with a jump of 12.17m.

Plump captured the men's 200m race with a time of 21.01 and he was sixth in the 100m race with a time of 10.77

Tyrone McCoy was a second in the 800m race with a time of 1:52.86 while Etchien Assinzo's time of 1:55.38 was good enough for ninth place.

The 4x400m relay team (Chaz Price, McCoy, Darrius Baker and Plump) was fourth with a run of 3:17.36 and Price was tenth in the 400m race with a time of 49.39.
