CLEMSON, S.C. - The men’s track and field team saw six personal records broken during day one of the JRF Combined Events Invitational Friday at Clemson. Having already seen several school and personal records broken this season, the squad continued its strong move into the midway point of the indoor season.

“We had an awesome day today,” head track and field coach Andy Eggerth said. “Everyone is pretty excited the athletes and the coaching staff as well. We had six personal records broken today across all the events; the sprints, the jump, the throws and hurdles.”

Starting the day with the first four events of the heptathlon, Brian Graham and Damarcus Henley would set their own new personal records in separate events. Graham nabbed it during the 60 dash and Henley in the long jump. The duo will finish out their competition tomorrow with the final three events.

The 60 dash was not the only event Graham would gain a personal record in but later in the evening, he set a record first in the preliminaries of 60 high hurdles but would break that record again during the finals of the race. His time of 8.39 seconds was good enough for eighth place.

Following in Graham’s record setting day were Jemir Martinez, Tyler Riberdy and Ryan Burruss. Maritinez found his new record in the 60 dash and a fifth place finish. Burruss, competing in his first indoor meet, cruised to a third place victory with a new record time of 15:19.69 in the 5,000 meters. Riberdy jumped 14.01 meters in the triple jump, his new personal best, landing himself in the third slot as well.

“Jemir Martinez had a great personal record in the 60 dash which was a really significant jump from his previous record time,” Eggerth said. “Tyler Riberdy had a big day with his triple jump personal record. It is great to see the team hitting these high points at this stage of the season.”
