SSU Wins Four Events At Appalachian Open

BOONE, N.C.- The Savannah State indoor track team won four events at the Appalachain Open, hosted by Appalachian State. The running events took place in the Holmes Convocation Center while the field events were held in Varsity Gym.

Amara Jones won the women's 400m race with a time of 55.76 while Aleah Hordges placed 4th with a time of 59.79.

The women's 4x400m relay team (Hordges, Jazy Seay-Blane, Amber Hughes and Jones won their event with a time of 3:55.64.

The SSU men's 4x400m relay team also captured first place. Chaz Price, Darrius Baker, Tyrone McCoy and Eric Plump combined for a winning time of 3:21.82. Placing third in that same race with a run of 3:26.62 was Gabriel Davis, Kevin Carson, Darnell Brown and Anthony Jarvis.

Miguel Velasquez won the men's 800m race with a time of 1:56.98.

Baker finished 5th in the men's 55m hurdles (6.46). McCoy was 4th in the one mile while Ruben Isreal-McBee was 7th with times of 4:31.26 and 4:35.22 respectively.

In the men's 400m race, Price was 3rd with a time of 51.09 and Davis was 7th with a run of 52.04.

In the men 's 200m race, Plump (22.12) and Baker (22.14) finished 2nd and 3rd.

Seay-Blane was 7th in the women's 800m race with a time of 2:30.02.
