MACON, Ga. - After a successful trip to the Clemson Invitational Jan 7-8, Jill Arthur and Brittany Robinson have been given Atlantic Sun Conference Athlete of the Week honors, the conference announced Wednesday. The award is the first for both of them.

Arthur, in her senior season, finished in first place in the triple jump over the weekend and was the first Owl this season to nab the top spot. Her first jump was all she needed to close out the competition, landing 12.21 meters (40’075”). The performance by Arthur this weekend moved her into a 12th place ranking nationally in the triple jump.

Running in two events over the weekend, Robinson finished seventh in the 500 meters, a distance which is rarely used. She also would see another top 10 finish in the 800 meters, placing eighth in a time of 2:30.79. Head track and field coach Andy Eggerth hopes this is just the tip of the iceberg for the duo.

“It is always great for our athletes to be recognized by the conference,” Eggerth said. “Jill has had some inconsistency but this is great for her seeing what she can really do. As we move on in the season, it will be great to see how she can improve and what can be accomplished. It’s nice to see Brittany finishing with the top athletes but we are looking for her to get a lot better this season and show us her true potential.”

Getting a short break, the pair will get a shot at defending their conference awards at the Clemson Games in Clemson, S.C. Jan 28-29.
