Lobo Cross Country Invitational, NM:  MileSplit XC #22 Julia Foster, Albuquerque Academy NM, won big with a quick time of 18:15.90.  Caleb Rubalcaba, Rio Rancho NM, won the boys race with a quick 15:39.50.  Harrier #9 Albuquerque Academy NM boys rolled to an impressive victory, scoring 45 points off of a 49 second spread.  Los Alamos NM girls won with 102 points but boasted a 34 second 1-5 spread.

 

 

Grizzly Invitational, MI:  Shannon Osika, Waterford Mott MI, a 2009 Foot Locker Finalist, blew away the field with a time of 18:44.1.  Scott Albaugh, Mott MI, won the boys race with a time of 16:07.6.  Albion Invitational, MI:  Lindsey Burdette, Hanover-Horton MI, ran the fastest time in Michigan so far with a time of 18:37.80.  Hanover-Horton MI rolled over the competition in the team race with 17 points.  Spencer Nousain, Concord MI, won the boys race with a time of 16:02.40.  St. Joseph Invitational, MI:  Alex Standiford, Mattawan MI, won the boys race with a quick 15:58.00.  Ann Marie Arseneau, Sturgis MI, won the girls race with a time of 19:07.00.   

 

 

Horlick Rebel Invitational, WI:  Lake Zurich IL travelled to Wisconsin to impress in a race, winning with 32 points and an average time of 16:23.6.  They also had a 1-4 spread of 24 seconds with another 21 seconds back to the 6-7 men.  Victor Delatorre led the team with a winning time of 16:05.1.  

 

 

Lori Fitzgerald Memorial Pre-State Invite, CO:  Photos | Race Videos: 5A Boys | 5A Girls | 4A Boys | 4A Girls | 2A-3A Boys | 2A-3A Girls | MileSplit XC #4 Eleanor Fulton, Highlands Ranch CO, opened her season with a solid win in the 5A division, with a time of 18:46.61.  Monarch CO girls won the 5A title with 91 points in a narrow victory over Boulder CO, 95 points.  Highlands Ranch was 3rd with 122 points.  Harrier #9 Fort Collins was way back in 4th with 157 points.  (Photo by Alan Versaw, ColoradoTrackXC)

 

 

Marcus 1 Invitational, TX:  Photos | Boys 5A Finish Video | Girls 5A Finish Video | MileSplit XC #3 Craig Lutz, Marcus TX, opened his season with a serious blast.  Craig ran 14:53.6 in the boys 5A race for a 39 second victory and the course record, breaking Colby Lowes 14:59.  Harrier #10 Marcus TX was soundly beaten by Carroll TX, 39 points to 81.  Carroll boasted an impressive 23 second spread off of Ben Golestan's 3rd place time of 15:43.60.  Natalie Rathjen, Highland Park TX, won the girls 5A 2 mile race with a time of 10:45.0.  (Photo by Alex Aldaco, TXRunning.com) 

 

 

Hornet-Red Devil Invite, IL:  Palatine IN girls (Harrier #8) gave a solid performance, winning the girls varsity race with 48 points, placing 3 in the top-10.  Courtney Brown led the way, winning with a time of 17:42.66 over the 3-mile layout.  Harrier #24 Neuqua Valley IN lost a nail-biter to the Palatine boys squad 59-60.  The Valley had a 23 second spread while Palatine secured the victory with a 33 second spread, so surely the battle for supremacy will be heating up in Illinois when these teams clash with Harrier #18 Oak Park River Forest and #5 York.  Joe McAsey, Minooka IL, won the individual title with a time of 15:09.37 on the 3-mile layout.  

 

 

Artesian Classic, IN:  MileSplit XC #9 Futsum Zeinasellassie, North Central IN, won the boys AA race in a big way with a swift 14:49.2 clocking over 5000 meters to lead his team to a runner-up finish behind the super-strong Columbus North squad (Harrier #1). Columbus North showed extreme depth with 25 points scored off of 3rd-7th placing from their top-5 with a spread of 20 seconds off of a 15:06 pace!  Rachael Sollman, Columbus North, won the girls AA race with a time of 18:13.3.  Columbus North girls impressed behind her, winning with 33 points over North CentralIndiana State Preview, IN:  Harrier #24 Carmel IN girls won their second invitational of the season with 7 different girls from the Carmel Classic, and they looked good doing it.  Gina Genco led the team with her 4th place finish in 19:12.4.  They had three girls under 20 minutes with the 4-5 girls close, making for a solid start.  Waverly Neer, CMA-Culver IN, won overall with a time of 18:43.4.  In the boys race John Mascari, Terre Haute North IN, won off a swift pace with a time of 15:19.1 to take down a Pre-season ranked runner and turn some heads in his direction.  MileSplit #17 Chris Walden, Carmel IN, was a close 2nd in 15:25.6.  Hamilton Southeastern IN won the meet with 87 points over Carmel IN, 102 points.  

 

 

Matterhorn Invitational, MN:  Harrier #20 Eden Prairie boys looked solid up front with Aaron Bartnik taking top honors with a time of 15:54 and two teammates in 3rd and 4th.  But the 4-5 men will need to step it up if they are going to stay in the rankings deep into the season.  Eden Prairie girls looked strong as well with 5 in the top-7 overall.  Kaelyn Williams, Robbinsdale Cooper, won the 4k race with a time of 14:56.   

 

 

Washingtonville Wizard Invite, NY:  Arlington NY boys and girls swept the team titles in a big way.  The boys won with 27 points, led by overall winner Eddie Merenda, who clocked in at 15:46.14.  The girls won with 42 points and were led by Hayley McMahon, who finished 2nd in 19:18.46.  Holly Cavaluzzo, Valley Central NY, won the title with a time of 18:42.87.

 

 

Mt. Saint Mary's Invitational, MD:  MileSplit XC #21 Matt Jablonski, Loyola Blakefield MD, won big with a time of 15:44.36.  Loyola Blakefield won the team title with 76 points.  Maura Linde, Century MD, won the girls race with a time of 18:52.43.  Bishop O'Connell won the team title with 54 points.  (Photo by Tim O'Dowd, irishrunner.com) 

 

 

Sole Sports Running Zone Cross Country Festival, AZ : Harrier #13 Xavier College Prep won the Sole Sports XC Invitational with 26 points placing all 7 of their runners in the top 11.  The team was led by sophomore Sarah Fakler who finished the hilly (and very hot) race in 17:55.30 for 1st place.  Brophy seniors Will Firth and Tommy Williams ran tandem from tape to tape finishing with less than a second between them.  The team took second with 92 points behind Mesa Mountain View (90 points), led by 12th place finisher Dallin Gherkins(Photo by Margot Kelly, AZtrackXC.com)   Photos  Article

 


 

Chancellor Invite, VA: Full Coverage and Summary | Hannah Lowery Interview | Kevin Bennert Interview | More Videos | Soph Hannah Lowery, Stafford VA, won the girls race with a course record time of 18:51.3, 1:13 over the nearest competitor.  Colonial Forge girls won with 49 points to upset Harrier #15 Midlothian, but Midlo was competing without 2 of their top-5.  Kevin Bennert, Woodberry Forest School VA, won the boys race in 16:28.9.  Blue Demon Invite, VA:  Full Coverage and Summary | Video: Boys Varsity | Girls Varsity | More | Photos | Blacksburg girls dominated, scoring 27 points for the victory while putting 6 runners inside the top-15.  Hannah Brown, Blacksburg, took over nicely for the Stevens twins, winning with a course record time of 18:59 over a hilly layout.  Blacksburg boys also dominated, winning with 17 points.  They took the top-3 places with Frank Locasio leading the way with his winnign time of 16:21.  (Photo by Brandon Miles, milestat.com) 

 

 

SWCCCA Meet, MO:  Full Coverage | Caleb Hoover Interview | More Videos | Photos | Caleb Hoover, College Heights Christian, continued his winning ways from last year, taking the individual boys title with a time of 16:11.40.  Liz Reida, Kickapoo, won the girls title in 19:34.30.  

 

  

The Berry Invitational, GA:  In the 1A,2A,3A boys race Cody Barger, North Hall GA, won with a time of 15:54, the only sub-16 in the race.  In the girls race Lauren Kester, Greater Atlanta Christian School GA, won with a time of 19:20.  In the 4A, 5A boys race Alec Classen, Parkview GA, won with the fastest time of the day, a 15:43 that was good for a 8 second gap.  Wade Voyles, Chapel Hill GA, finished 2nd with a time of 15:51.  In the girls race Grace Tinkey, First Presbyterian Day School GA, won by a landslide with an impressive time of 17:57.

 

 

Coach Ted Benz XC Jamboree, FL:  Nick Posada, Winter Park FL, won this early season Florida night meet with a time of 15:53.43.  Whitner Chase, Trinity Prep FL, was 2nd in 16:04.82.  

 

 

Eye Opener Invite, SC:  Science Hill's (TN) Molly Foster, a sophomore, opened her season with a nice 37 second win in the International girls race with a time of 18:20.  (Photo by John Olson, scrunners.com)

 

 

Sixth Annual John Sharp Viking Invitational, PA:  Sara Sargent Interview | Pennsbury High School won the Viking Invitational with 39 points led by sophomore Sara Sargent (MileSplit XC #8).  All 7 Pennsbury runners finish in the top 24 with junior Ann Herman placing 6th, Senior Morgan Perry finishing 9th, sophomore Stephanie Radzinski in 11th and sophomore Anastasia Diamond in 12th. Sargent's time of 17:56.35 was 20 seconds faster than 2nd place finisher Victoria Gerlach (Jr., Pennridge).  

On the boys side, Holy Ghost Prep won the team title with 95 points and a 3rd place finish for junior Ryan Horgan and 9th for San Dooling (Sr.)  Alex Izewski (Sr., Central Bucks East) won the race in 15:31.73 with Sam Hibbs (Jr., Hatboro Horsham) taking 2nd in 15:59.53.  (Photo by Don Rich, PennTrackXC.com)
