Bob Blastow Early Bird Invitational Preview
 
                The 2010 Bob Blastow Invitational is going to feature some of the best runners in the state of Georgia. The meet not only features some of the best teams in the state it has a plethora of talent on both the girls and boys side.
 
      Girls Preview- The girl’s race be the most competitive race in the history of Clinton Nature preserve featuring the following who’s who of Georgia. Anna Bowles, Katie Townsend and Sarah Bowles of Lakeside-Evans, Allie Schaich of Lambert, Meghan Wetterhall and Annie Kelly of Lakeside-Dekalb, Allie Buchalski of Johns Creek, Molly Schenk of Pope, Lindy Long of Landmark Christian, and Allison Brackin of Wheeler. The race has 10 runners with a sub 19 minute personal record and 19 with a sub 20 minute personal record. The course record of 16:59 held by the two Emily’s Emily Reese and Emily Borsare may not be in jeopardy with the race being this early season it should spark fast times and great competition. It will also give fans a glimpse into the state 4aaaa championship in November. Lambert, Johns Creek and Pope have either moved up or down to join the two Lakeside’s in 4A.
 
      Boys Preview-The boy’s race may not have the girl’s depth, but with 27 runners with a sub 17 minute personal record led by Nathan Vassey the defending state 3aaa champ from last year it looks to be competitive. The race also features Austin Ulich of Chattahoochee, Brendan Hogan of St. Pius both with sub 16 minute PR’s. On the team side Flowery Branch leads the way as the only team in the race that is defending a state title, but the race also features several traditional powers from around the state. Like Coach Danny Brock of Johns Creek says “Even though I don’t have any hair, these races are going to be so electric it’s going to make my hair stand up”.
 
The races start at 7:30am with the girls varsity followed by the boy’s varsity at 8:00am. There will be a $5 charge for parking. Coaches with GHSA passes, busses will not be charged.
