Tigers Qualify For NCAA Track Regional Meet

SAVANNAH, Ga.- Three members of the Savannah State track & field team have qualified to participate in the NCAA East Regional to be held May 27-29 in Greensboro, North Carolina on the campus of North Carolina A&T University.

Sharonda Redfield and Amara Jones will become the first women in school history to qualify for a post-season event.

Redfield, a junior from Augusta, GA, will compete in the triple jump while Jones, a sophomore from Freeport, Grand Bahamas, will participate in the 200m and 400m races. Redfield qualified with a leap of 12.53m at the Penn Relays while Jones qualified in the 200m with a time of 23.90 and posted a time of 54.62 in the 400m.

Eric Plump will make a return trip to the East Regionals. The sophomore from Columbus, GA will run in the men's 100m and 200m races. Plump qualified in the 100m with a time of 10.52 and posted a time of 21.20 in the 200m. In 2009, Plump ran in the men's 200m race.
