The Coach Wood Invitational signals the end of the regular season. And that is why it's basically referred to as the All Class State meet. It's at least the closest thing we will get since it's the big meet that MOST of the top teams always attend. The meet has technically been around since 2003, when it was just a quad meet between four teams who had ties to Coach Rick Wood. I was fortunate enough to run in that race and it's been a joy to watch it grow so much. Thanks to Andy Christie's hard work it's been the premier meet in the state for well over a decade now. But it's undergone a few changes over the years, most notably when it moved from Gainesville/North Georgia to McIntosh nature preserve in 2019. This made times much, much faster as it removed the hills and also widened the course significantly, making it safer for the athletes.
