CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Amara Jones won the women's 400m race with a personal best time of 54.78 as Savannah State competed in the Charlotte 49er Classic held March 18-20 at the Irwin Belk Track & Field Center.

Alisha Nelson finished third in the women's high jump (1.55m) and Sharonda Redfield placed third in the women's long jump (5.45m).

The SSU men's 4x100m relay team of Deshawn Lee, Eric Plump, Darrius Baker and Chaz Price placed third with a time of 41.65.

Other third place finishes were Plump in the 100m (10.71) and Shawn Sovnenir who competed in the triple jump (14.42m) and the long jump (7.10m).
