KENNESAW, Ga. – Head coach Stan Sims announced an addition to next fall’s women’s cross country team this week, as Haley Carson has signed a letter of intent to run for the Owls.

Carson, who has done her prep running at Brookwood High School of Snellville, Ga., helped her team to a third place finish in the Georgia 5A State championship, finishing 40th with a time of 20:10.48 in the 5k event. Coach Sims is confident that Carson can come to Kennesaw and become a major contributor for his squad.

“Haley is the type of runner I like to recruit here to Kennesaw. She’s a little off the radar, but if she can come here and stay healthy and work hard, we’re very confident about her abilities,” Sims said of Carson, who should also compete in some distance events during the indoor and outdoor track seasons.

Carson is the second new addition to the Owls for this coming fall, as Peachtree Ridge High School's Heather Morris signed with KSU in February.
