JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - The Kennesaw State Owls men’s track and field team trails only defending champion and host East Tennessee State after the first day of the Atlantic Sun Indoor Track and Field Championships, coming in with 41 points midway through their quest for a second indoor conference title in three years.

Senior Josh McNair took home first place in the Shot Put with a toss of 16.52 meters, rebounding from his second place finish at last year’s championship after winning the event in 2008. His teammates, freshmen Casey Reynolds (14.84 meters) and Tyler Crow (12.38 meters) also had strong performances in the event, finishing third and 10th, respectively.

The team of Daniel Grass, David Tansey, Gianni Catalano, and Piotr Witczak contributed to the Owls success on Day One, finishing second in the Distance Medley Relay with a time of 10:13.10.

In total, the Owls had 13 top-ten finishes on day one of the championship to remain within shouting distance of ETSU, who will come into Saturday with 64 points.

The championship continues Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. with the conclusion of the Heptathalon, followed by the Weight Throw at 9. You can follow all of the action during the day by clicking the Live Results link below.
