On Your Marks..... Girls Practice Begins!

Today officially gets the 2010 Outdoor Track and Field season towards the starting line as many athletes will begin Spring training in earnest today. This year things flip-flop as the Girls have first go at it including having their State meet in Albany a week before the Georgia Olympics in Jefferson. If the Niswonger KTC Indoor Classic is an indicator, we should all be in store for another very competitive Spring and outstanding State meets!

It will be very interesting to watch how this season unfolds and what teams will make attempts to repeat as champions and what programs will push to reach the pinnacle. In 2009, Westlake was amazing as they dethroned Collins Hill in 5A and the question is, will they repeat? Southwest DeKalb lost some big guns to graduation in 09' but seem to reload every season. Can any program overtake them in 2010? Monroe Area has to be considered a favorite in 3A as they return nearly all of their scorers from last season after a magnificent run of home-cookin' last May in Albany. 2A could be a real battle again as Decatur, GAC will be loaded and Sahara Fletcher could be the push that Westminster needs to be right there also. Class A will be wide open as Wesleyan graduated a ton of Field Event points and with the addition of Destiny Jenkins, Athens Christian may be poised to make their best run in years at a title. Let the Games begin.....
