KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State junior Mackenzie Howe was named to the NCAA All-South Region cross country team, the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced this week.

Howe earned the honor after finishing in 18th place at the NCAA South Region Championship at Harry Pritchett Running Course at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Her 6k time of 20:58.62 was good enough to place her comfortably in the top-25, which is where a runner must customarily place to be named to an All-Region team.

The selection caps a season that was full of accolades for the Howe, who hails from Watkinsville, Ga. Mackenzie won the first six races of the season, on her way to being named the Atlantic Sun Conference Women’s Runner of the Week five times and earning a spot on the All-Atlantic Sun Conference Team. Her accomplishments also led to her being featured in the Faces in the Crowd section of Sports Illustrated in their October 12 issue.

The NCAA All-Region selection is the first one for the Owls at the Division I level. As a Division II program, they enjoyed 31 All-Southeast selections from 21 of their women between 1994 and 2004.
