WINGFOOT NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS ENTRIES

On May 22, the Atlanta Track Club is circling back for another grand experiment: What's going to happen when Georgia's top athletes step to the line for an all-class championship?

It's the question the Wingfoot Night of Champions will get an answer to.

Set to be held under the lights at Marietta High School, the event will field up to 16 athletes in each discipline across the track and in the field for an all-state type performance.

Athletes who meet the qualifying standards can qualify without being a Georgia state champion, but those who do win that elusive title can get in regardless of overall marks.

The Atlanta Track Club has eight recruiters looking for the state's best in the meantime.

Wondering who's already locked down?

The girls 100m will feature Jonesboro's Yahnari Lyons, who posted a Georgia No. 3 time of 11.65 seconds at the Region 3-AAAAA Champions. Alexander's Adaejah Hodge, who holds state best marks in the 200m (23.64), 300mH (42.66) and LJ (19-3.5), will feature in the 100m and 200m. She enters with times of 11.67 and 23.64, respectively.

Sandy Creek's Jania Hodges, who owns the state's top long hurdle time, is entered in the 100mH and 300mH.

One of Georgia's best and brightest girls distance runners, Blessed Trinity's Hannah Miniutti, is set race in the 1,600m (4:53.67). She's one of six girls under five minutes entered in the mile. St. Pius X's Hannah Schemmel, who beat Miniutti in the Class 5A 3,200m, is entered with a time of 4:56.42.

The girls 800m will feature Class 7A champion Riley Perlakowski (2:08.11), along with seven others under 2:15 -- including Gabriella Grissom's 2:10.14.

The boys 400m will feature seven athletes under 49 seconds, including Xavier Smith (48.14) and Malik Mixon (48.20). In the 800m, Sully Shelton (1:54.24) will get a rematch against his teammate Parker Buchheit (1:53.95), the Class 7A champion, along with Seth White (1:53.68), who owns the fastest overall time coming in.

Madison Gardner enters as the top performer in the girls 400m, having split a time of 54.59 this season. In a tight field featuring just five girls, five are separated by a little over a second.

Two girls will enter the long jump with marks over 19 feet: Skylar Harrelson (19-4.5) and Peyton Funderburk (19-2).

One of the top overall races of the night will be 1,600m, where Marietta's Kamari Miller (4:08.90), a Syracuse signee, will seek to break 4:10 and lock down an all-time great performance. Justin Wachtel (4:16.64), Colin O'Rielly (4:14.46) and Cooper Bocko (4:18.84) are also entered and should also compete alongside Miller. A total of 16 athletes who have times under 4:20 are entered.

In the 3,200m, Virginia recruit and North Hall senior Andrew Jones will look to break 9-minutes, while Westlake's Malik Mixon, who owns a No. 4 time in the 400m state, will be entered in both the quarter and 110mH.

Isaac Osifo, with a PR of 6-11, is on the cusp of 7-feet in the HJ, and will look to break that mark as well. He's one of seven athletes who has cleared at least 6-8.

In the long jump, Malaki Starks enters having posted a mark of 24-9.
