2020 GHSA XC State Meet: 4A Boys Meet Preview

After a disappointing end to their 2019 season (7th at State), Marist has come back with a vengeance and hitting on all cylinders again. Marist and Chestatee seem to be the favorites looking into Friday. Can anyone else make a jump into the top 2 and shock 4A?

Teams in Contention for Podium Spots

Marist: Led by Diego Palmisano and Jaylen Mallett, the War Eagles are looking to put an exclamation point on a great season. After a dominating performance at Region, they will be fighting with the boys of Chestatee for the State Crown.

Chestatee: Luke Gaddis leads a strong and hungry group of boys on Friday. They need to make sure they match up with Marist 2-5 to have a chance at taking the State Title.

Flowery Branch: After being on the outside all season, Coach Ramsey has these boys running great as of late! A great runner up finish at Region comes down to a tight spread between the 2-5 runners. Can Flowery Branch make a push into the top 2?

Jefferson: After a strong showing at Region and 3rd place finish, Jefferson ends the regular season ranked 4th, but have North Oconee and Pickens looking to chase them down.

Pickens: After a great region meet on their home course with four runners under 18:00 and Seth White looking to have a top 10 finish, Pickens looks to break into a podium spot.

North Oconee: Led by Davis Potts, who is chasing Luke Gaddis for the State title, the Titans ran through some injuries at Region and look to bounce back to go after the final podium spot. After North OC, the remainder of the field will be aiming to make the top 10.
