Dean Rusk, a team that has been very active, already four wins on the season for a team that returns almost their entire State Championship squad. The only bumps in the road have been when they were missing runners. They are the team to beat. Pace has had a good start to the year with their only defeat to Dean Rusk. Brookwood has had a strong opening run this season with top middle school finishes at NEGA and Panther. They have a deep roster and are a state contender. Bleckley has Ella Gibbs as a front runner, but they have some depth as well. Their top 5 can run with most teams in the state. No team returns more quality runners from state last year than Innocents, but an early stumble out of the gate drops them a bit. Taylor Road is off to a good start with top finish at Etowah and a close finish to Dean Rusk at Cherokee. However, they need some help in their top 5 in a deep and competitive Large School's division. Woodland returns three solid runners and won their home meet, but needs to race a bit more to see where they fall. Buford and George Walton both have some impressive wins to start the season, as does Summerour, but they are discounted since two of their Top 7 are in elementary school. West Laurens started the year with a slow win while like the guys side, powerhouse Marist hasn't gotten out of the gates yet.
