Blessed Trinity Sweeps Team Titles At AT&T Panther Meet

The Blessed Trinity program flexed its muscles this Saturday at the 'Be One Church' cross country course, sweeping the varsity team titles. Team rankings begin after next weekend and both Titans squads could be sitting high on the all-class totem pole after their performances at AT&T Starrs Mill Panther.

Varsity Boys 


Blessed Trinity's 5A boy's squad won their second consecutive meet this fall besting 3A Westminster by 36 points, laying down a team average of 16:36 with a 1-5 split of :53. Senior Adam Wade led the way again, placing 10th overall at 16:11. Their 2-4 runners ran as a pack the entire race including Alex Garrot (16:32), Zack Burke (16:36), and Ben Rothering (16:37). Westminster was second as a team paced by Matthew Fernando's 11th place effort. Auburn took some third-place team hardware home.

Woodrow Dean of Tallassee (Alabama) was the overall champ.

Fresh off a win last week at the Smith's Station Stage Races 2-mile, Woodrow Dean of Tallassee crossed the border and outraced a tough Georgia field taking the overall title in a time of 15:32. The top Georgian was Collin Jones of Carrollton placing 2nd in 15:51, followed by Zack Truitt of Landmark Christian (15:54) who just edged out Jonathan Greene from Evans high school at 15:55, Myles Hunnicutt of Hiram rounded out the top 5 in 15:58.

Varsity Girls


Kelly Ann Sutterfield of Blessed Trinity and Simone Rojas of Evans HS duel.

Blessed Trinity took care of business easily winning the varsity girls team title. The Lady Titans rang up 39 points placing four runners in the top five positions and did it without the services of 2019 Nike XC Nationals finalist Hannah Miniutti. Kelly Ann Sutterfield won the first cross country race of her high school career clocking an 18:53. Eating up spots 3-5 were Katie Hamfeldt (19:11), freshman Claire Petersen (19:18), and Nicole Chastain (19:21) Simone Rojas from Evans high school had another strong outing taking runner-up honors going 19:04. 5A McIntosh raced to second as a team, defeating a pair of strong 7A squads in Parkview and Mill Creek. Leading the Chiefs was freshman Taylor Tarpley placing 8th overall in 19:32. 


Katie Hamfeldt of Blessed Trinity took third overall.


Former middle school star, freshman Claire Petersen is excelling at the high school level.


Nicole Chastain (l) gives Blessed Trinity a very strong top five. 


The Starrs Mill duo of Diego Ramos (17:56) and Charlie Clem (17:57) went 1-2 in the freshman boys race.



Lily Savage of Sequoyah passed several runners on loop 2 winning the freshman girls race at 22:15.


Ben Winn of Great Strides took the checkered flag in the MS boys race going 10:48.


It was a photo finish for runnerup, as Eli Morales of Brookwood Youth out leaned Loughton Spates of Auburn middle school, both clocking 10:59's.

Abby Merner from Auburn Junior High took the middle school girl's individual title posting an 11:37.


Amelia Ogden of Great Strides was the top Georgian clocking an 11:46. 


Shari Brown of Landmark Christian was third overall in a time of 11:57.
