USATF Events Status

On 4/23/2020, USATF Georgia Youth Athletics Chair stated via email:

As you know, we have received news of the postponement of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games and the cancellation of the 2020 USATF Hershey Junior Olympics, the USATF U20 Championships, and the USATF Youth Outdoor Championships. With consideration for our USATF and state recommendations and guidelines, USATF Georgia will be canceling our USATF Georgia Junior Olympic Championships and progression meets. This includes our Preliminary meets scheduled for June 6th, our Association Championships scheduled for June 18th through 21st, and the Region 4 Championships scheduled for July 9th through the 12th.

However, the Youth Committee and I will be monitoring the situation as time progresses on the status of the pandemic and venue availability throughout the state of Georgia. If the opportunity is presented to us where the health of our society and the guidance of health officials permit us to have competitions safely without putting our members and the public in harm's way, we will explore the possibility of hosting competitions. However, they will not be under the branding of the Junior Olympics, as our national office has mandated.
