Senior Salute: Kareem Agostino of Eagle's Landing


Kareem Agostino kicks off our 'Senior Salutes' series. Kareem is a senior from Eagle's Landing HS in Henry County and a member of their 5A State Champ 4x400 relay squad. 

What were some of the highlights of your high school cross country and track careers?

In spring 2018, I stepped foot on the state meet track for the first time and ran a blazing 21.73 in the 200 meter dash prelims. Spring 2019 came and I called it my most consistent season. That year I ran sub 11.0 in the 100m 7-10 times. My 4x400 team and I ran away with the victory and became state champions in a time of 3:14.4. I was also named Henry County 'Athlete of the year'. I finished out my high school campaign with Pr's of 10.78 and 21.73 As well at 2 time All county/Region selections.

2) Did you encounter any struggles or adversity along the way that you had to overcome?

Along the way I've encountered dreadful adversity from a strained groin to pulled hamstring. Each year of my high school campaign I've had an injury. My sophomore year I pulled my hamstring, My Junior year I pulled my groin, and last but not least , my senior year I tweaked my quad.My Sophomore and Junior season I was able to reach the big stage at the end of year. My senior season got a late jumpstart to it , but I went out and showed out.

3) Aside from the competition, what was the best thing about being a part of your school's program?

The best part about being with my school's program is the leadership amongst everyone on my team.

4) Are there any coaches or teammates that you've worked with over the past four years that you'd like to thank?

I would like to personally Thank Coach Santee and Coach Ant. These two coaches have been great mentors to me over the last four years.

5) What are your plans and goals for the future? Do you intend on continuing with the sport in college or in another capacity?

I plan on pursuing a degree in criminal justice and gain knowledge so that I could obtain an internship with the FBI and continue to work the ranks. I also plan on continuing my track career.

6) What advice would you give to a younger athlete who's hoping to have a successful and enjoyable high school career?

My advice to the younger athletes is to Always do what you have to do with no regrets of doing it.
