GHSA Extends Suspension of Spring Sports Thru 4/6

On Tuesday the GHSA extended the suspension of all Spring extracurricular activities thru April 6th due to the COVID-19 pandemic after Governor Kemp's press conference yesterday. His mandate of no gatherings of more than 10 people certainly applies to schools and sporting events, so in effect the original mandate has been extended through April 6. 2020. The GHSA is also aware of schools and communities mandating closures beyond this date.. The fact is that we are in unprecedented times and the situation remains very fluid.

The GHSA Associate Directors will again meet on Friday, March 27, to plan for all scenarios that could pertain to the Spring season and Spring championships. They will take take the data available at this time and make the best decisions on moving forward. Their top priority is the safety of all the student athletes and those with whom they have contact. As a reminder, ALL practices and competitions continue to be suspended until further notice.

Everyone, I urge you to please continue to practice social distancing, wash your hands and stay home when possible and we will get thru this crisis. We are getting conflicting information from the President of the USA and his top health advisors, especially today.. If one takes a look at the data available HERE from John Hopkins things may get much worse the next 2-3 weeks. Stay safe out there running/Track & Field community, hit the treadmill and other workout equipment you may have available at your disposal.
