Top Field Storylines From The Weekend


Our Florida field athletes are dominating the 2020 season right out the gate. Here are just a few of the top field highlights from the weekend. 

Bartram Trail's Max Abreu Clears First Height in PV Since Devastating Hospital Experience in 2019



This tweet speaks for itself. It's what track and field is all about -- overcoming adversity and and enjoying it in the process. Abreu placed third overall this weekend in the pole vault with his 3.9m (12-09.5) height clearance the Danny Brown Invitational. Aidan Dinsbeer (4.4m, 13-03.5) and Jack Vranicar (4.05m, 13-03.5) took the first and second places in the event. 

Jhordyn Stallworth Wins Shot and Disc at Jesse Forbes, Earns Top Performance of the Week



Stallworth took home two throwing wins this weekend at Jesse Forbes with throws that were the furthest by any Florida athlete this week. Her discus throw of 45.75m (150-01) is a new Florida No. 2 throw for the event as she begins her campaign to move up the leaderboard. 

Caleb Snowden High Jumps to FL No. 1, US No. 3 Mark of 2.08 at Steinbrenner

Dunbar senior, Caleb Snowden, opened up his 2020 season with a statement performance of 2.08m (6-9.75) to win the high jump at the Steinbrenner Invitational. Snowden, will look to defend his 2A state title and break his 2.12m PR that he set last May. 

Westley Neal Sets New School Record For Gulliver in Shot Put



Neal's shot put performance this week was not only a school record, but the furthest shot distance by any Florida athlete this past week. His 16.86m (55-3.57) won the Fr. Luis Ripoll S.J Relays event and was a FL No. 3 performance. 

Kyle Murawski Takes Over As FL Pole Vault Leader at Steinbrenner

Murawski is crushing the Pole Vault game this season, already setting a new PR in the event his second meet into the season. The George Jenkins senior, vaulted 4.7m (15-5) which happens to be a FL No. 1 performance but also a top 3 national leading vault. Early in the season, Murawski is proving that the sky is the limit. 

Asherah Collins Moves to FL No. 1, Wins TJ at Jesse Forbes

3A state champion and UCF signee, Asherah Collins, claimed the top Florida ranking in the triple jump with her 11.73m (38-1.25) win at the Jesse Forbes Invitational this weekend. Her outdoor PR is held at a 12.59m, but she is already progressing faster in the event comparatively year-over-year so we can expect to see that distance rise over the course of the season. 

Jackson Knotts, Marissa Rung Top Javelin Performances of the Week

Javelin is now an official event in the state series and Florida athletes are picking it up mighty quick. In just his second meet of his career, Jackson Knotts of Plant City is crushing it in the javelin. The junior set a new PR of 44.45m to win at the Steinbrenner Invitational which is the furthest throw by any Florida athlete this week. On the girls side, Marrisa Rung of the Niceville throwing powerhouse, threw a 39.86m to rise to the national rankings in the event. The senior looks to potentially be the potential 4A javelin state champion come may.
