Bleckley Boys Dominate, Elbert County Girls Win

Bleckley County dominated the meet in 2A boys ringing up 88 points for a margin of victory of 41 points over runnerup Elbert County. The Royals began Finals having 38.50 points not knowing they would clinch the first team title in school history after winning the 4x100 relay in a time of 41.79  Bleckley has never been known for having sprinters and this Spring found 4 of them which made a huge difference. Nykeem Farrow left Berry with alot of Gold hardware having doubled in the short Sprints at 10.72/21.87  and 2 relay medals. Bleckley closed out their campaign winning the 4x400 posting a 3:25.10  Garrett Rogers raced to 18 points winning the 3200m in 9:51 and taking 2nd in the 1600m at 4:30.98, Jaylen Thigpen added 11 points with a 3rd in the 1600 (4:36.69) and 4th in the 3200m (10:27)  Bryce Bailey was 2nd place in the 100m at 10.81, Deandre Pitts took 3rd in the HJ at 6-4 and and Caden Maxwell 4th in the PV (12-0)  Elbert County was 2nd on the Team Podium led by star Metrius Fleming, and Banks County edged Rockmart HS by a sinle point for 3rd. 

Bleckley County got off to fast start Saturday winning the 4x100 going 41.79

Keon Coley of Douglass came from behind stealing 400m Gold in a time of 49.31

Metrius Fleming from Elbert County won his 2nd Gold medal in the 110h going 13.94

Jaime Towns of Westside Augusta took the 800m crown at 2:01.11

Nykeem Farrow of Bleckley (L) took the 200m dash title in 21.87

2A Girls

Tykeya Gray speeds towards the finish line giving Elbert County a fast start Saturday

It was a Region 8-AA rematch for the 2A Girls team title with Elbert County coming out victorious by 8 points over Oglethorpe County. The Blue Devis' were led by sprinter Emerson Brown and thrower Shakira Ardister. Brown struck for Gold in the 100m at 12.15, placed 3rd in the 200m (25.68), was key in Elbert's Gold in the 4x100 going 48.55 and took 4th in the TJ. Ardister won the Shot with a heave of 39-2 while finishing 4th in the Discus. Tykeya Gray earned 3rd in the HJ (5-2), raced to 4th in the 400m and 
anchored Elbert County to Gold in the 4x100.




Oglethorpe County's Ella Stoudenmire (above) had a great meet with some exciting races in her track events. She came from nearly 50m back and on the last lap caught and passed defending champ Kennedee Williams from East Laurens at the line clocking a 2:22.95, finished strong in the 400m seizing Silver in 58.74 and anchored the Pats' 4x400 squad to Gold in another photo finish at 4:09.54  KIPP had a good meet placing 3rd with 49 points and East Laurens held off Bleckley County to finish 4th as a team. 

Mecca Jackson from Washington County held on for dear life in the 400m taking the win at 58.64

Emerson Brown adds another Gold to the Ram's collection speeding to the 100m crown at 12.15

Ikeria Hamilton from East Laurens is seen winning the 100h title posting a 15.40

Ella Stoudenmire had the biggest comeback win in the meet as she ran down the defending champ and outleaned her stealing the Gold in 2:22.95

Mecca Jackson of Washington County races to her 2nd Gold of the meet winning the 200m at 25.40

Brianna McRae of Dublin HS skies over the final hurdle enroute to the win at 47.65


There she goes again as Stoudenmire will haunt a couple of athletes after the meet as she passed 2 runners down the stretch giving Oglethorpe the 4x400m win closing out their meet
