Athlete Spotlight- Thrower Caleb Hartley of Toombs County


Caleb Hartley of Toombs County is currently ranked Georgia HS #1 in the Discus throw with a mark of 176-10 and has a season best of 56-10 in the Shot Put. 

Caleb is very well traveled, having set the West Virginia state MS record as an 8th grader with an 187-0 toss.  He competed the following year as a freshman at Poca High School,WV placing 3rd in the Shot with a put of 50' 8" and 2nd in the Discus with a mark of 160-11 

The following year, his father accepted a Coaching and Teaching position way down at Okeechobee HS in Florida.  Caleb competed a the 6A level in FLA, sweeping both events at the District and Region meets.  He then went on to a 4th place finish at State in the Shot (54'8") and runner up in the Discus with a mark of 184' 4".  


Caleb is being recruited by Auburn, UCLA, UNC Chapel Hill and Miami (The U). He then moved up to Georgia to Lyons at Toombs County HS. Caleb also excels on the football field & is a 3 year Varsity starter in the Sport.  This past season he was selected to first team all region at MLB, leading with over 120 tackles.  

Caleb loves buffalo wings and is an avid hunter.  He is very active in his youth group at church, has a 3.8 GPA and is enrolled in mostly accelerated courses.
