St. Pius X Boys Almost Perfect at Peachtree Stages

St. Pius X boys came within 2.5 seconds of perfect scoring both (Varsity and JV Stages) at the Peachtree Ridge Stage Races, which were held on a new venue at Chattahoochee Point Park. This may have never been done on the boys side. Jack Voss and Rowan Wiley both went 10:22 leading the Golden Lions. 


Zack Truitt of Landmark Christian took the individual title at the Zack Wansley XC Clash held at Clinton Farms. It seems his longer hair caused no wind resistance on the way to clocking a 16:11. 7A South Forsyth had too many horses for the field taking the team title by 34 points over a game Hebron Christian squad (who lost 2 top 5 runners this season to a move and Football)

West Forsyth's boys made it a sweep of the varsity team titles at the Hoya 2 Mile. The Wolverines placed 5 runners in the top 10, led by Jeremy Ericson's 4th place finish of 10:13, followed by Reece Cato in 5th at 10:17. Sully Shelton of host Harrison took the overall win at 10:02. 

Alpharetta took the team win at the Cherokee County XC  Classic placing 6 harriers in the top 9 spots, featuring overall Champ Sean Rager who crossed the mats at 16:30.

The Greyhounds of Pope may be on a mission this season after finishing 2nd in 6A last season. They placed 5 runners in the top 7 scoring 20 points. Axel Mateo was the top harrier for Pope on this day going 17:19 for 2nd overall, followed by William Brown 3rd in 17:24 and Anthony Parisi 4th at 17:29. Domonic Macias of Union Grove was the individual titleist clocking a 16:51.

The individual performance of the week may have come from Mary Person's sophomore Justin Wachtel. He torched the fairways at the golf course and the field in a blazing 15:44 time. Local school Veterans HS won the team title by 12 points over Wayne County.

At the Mercy Invite, Northgate took the team win by 23 points having 2 runners in the top 7 including Michael Nelson 5th (17:50) and Davis McIntire 7th (17:51) Andres Sanchez of Sandy Creek won the overall title going 17:24 besting Andrew White of Columbus 2nd at 17:26.

At the Kosh Classic it was a clash for the team title between 3A powers Westminster and North Hall. The Cats' defended their tough home turf taking the team title by 19 points over the Trojans (now being coached by Sam Borg) Zachary Roe led the hunt taking 4th place in 17:26. North Hall ace Devan Crow won unchallenged, taking the individual victory in 16:35. 

Alex DeBoy of new GHSA school Trinity Christian-Sharsburg, had an impressive win at the LCA Invitational winning by a minute posting a 17:02 leading the Lions to 2nd place as a team. Heritage HS (Conyers) took the team title placing 2 runners in the top 5 slots. 

Sophomore William Welden and super frosh Brandon Sertl of Holy Innocents' Episcopal ran PRs of 10:18 and 10:35 respectively to finish 1-2 in the 5th Annual Battle of Sandy Springs.
