Jared Harris of St. Pius X takes 200m Gold
St. Pius X clinched the boys title well before the racing neared its conclusion and got to sit back enjoy the remainder of the meet. The Lions were charged up early on Friday with Tanner Duffin sweeping the throws with a mark of 189-3 in the discus and later the Shot at 59-02. Matthew Harris added Gold winning the LJ with a leap of 24-2.50 and Sam Schwaner added a 4th in the HJ. On Saturday, the Golden Lions' Jared Williams won the 200m dash clocking a 22.03 after taking 4th in the 400m. Harris capped off the Lions' title by grabbing a silver in the 300h at 37.92. Pius X picked up distance points from Jordan Perez placing 4th in the 3200 as well as Jack Voss in 7th and Rowan Wiley took 4th in the 1600m.
Nicolas Toomer of Sandy Creek takes 400m Gold.
Sandy Creek raced to Gold in the 4x400 (3:17.36) bypassing Chapel Hill to seize 2nd as a team by 1 point. Nicolas Toomer won the 400m at 48.00, seized silver in the TJ at 46-9.50 (placed 4th in the LJ), Omarian Clemons took 3rd in the 110h (14.61), AJ Hale was 3rd in the 300h (39.16) and the Patriots were 4th in the 4x100.
Chapel Hill races to 4x100 Gold
Chapel Hill made the team Podium placing 4th. Leading the Panthers were their Gold winning 4x100 squad at 41.74, (4x400 squad-4th)Tyre Shelton sprinted to 1st in the 100m (10.66) Jermaine Anderson took bronze in the discus at 167-06 and later a sliver in the Shot with a put of 57-0.
Leif Andersen of Marist taking the 4A Boys 1600
Marist was a strong 4th with 45 points capitalizing on their distance strength. Leif Andersen swept the distance events, beginning with the 3200 (9:26) and 1600m (4:19.54) William O'Reilly grabbed 6th in the 3200, while David Reteneller placed 5th in the 1600. Ellis Pearson took 4th in the discus, Luke Hale 5th in the HJ, Knox Pittman took 4th in the 800, with Reteneller 6th.
Kayla Alexander wins Gold in the 110 hurdles
Chapel Hill girls successfully defended their 2017 title scoring 72.5 points for a 20 point margin of victory. They began Saturday by winning the 4x100 relay at 47.09. Kayla Alexander in 13.94. Ilene Soleyn picked up a bronze in the 400m (56.82) and 5th in the 800m. They scored well in the field with Kassidy Amerson-Fox grabbing Silver in the discus at 124-02 and Ivory Jones placed 4th. Alexander leapt to silver in the LJ (18-6.25), Meghan Daniels placed 4th in the TJ, and they closed out the meet taking 2nd in the 4x400 at 3:57.63
Miriam Waters of Woodward wins the 100m.
Woodward Academy leap frogged over Marist in the 4x400 race, taking 3rd place in 3:57.66, earning 2nd on the team Podium. The War Eagles sped to solver in the 4x100 going 47.42 and then Miriam Waters sparked the War Eagles attack during finals winning the 100m at 11.92 and placing 2nd in the 200 at 24.46. Alex Potts claimed silver in the PV with a bar of 12-0.
Josie Wirtz of Marist
Marist took 3rd as a team 1.5 points behind Woodward. They picked up many points in the distance events, including a Gold by Josie Wirtz in the 3200m (10:52) with Kathleen Schellman placing 5th. Wirtz ended her GHSA career racing to silver in the 1600m (5:07.28) followed by team mate Kathleen Maley scoring a bronze at 5:11.65. In the field, Anais Marenco vaulted to 3rd at 11-6, and Karen Kirunda placed 5th in the TJ. On Saturday, the War Eagles' Nora Solomon took 4th in the 800m, Annie Oates 5th in the 300h and the 4x400 squad took 5th.

Baldwin HS out of Milledgeville, was the final team to make the Podium. Mollie Speights won the HJ with a bar of 5-07, Brittany Trawick took Gold in the LJ with a mark of 19-04 and placed 3rd in the 100m.
