Workout Wednesday: Pillar Connection with Arete Throws Nation

Workout Wednesday: Pillar Connection With ATN

Arete Throws Nation is a throwing club that operates out of the Phoenix area. Coach Erik Johnson heads the project by teaching a "Throwing Chain Reaction" that breaks down the fundamental phases of the rotational throws into workable and teachable units called pillars. Three of his high school athletes will return ready to take on the Arizona high school throws this outdoor season.
Erik began youth throws as a shot putter in 1979 and was an Arizona high school state champion from Shadow Mountain High School in the Discus in 1988. He attended Mt. San Antonio College and from there caught the eye of Art Venegas at the UCLA throwing powerhouse which he attended from 1990-1992. He completed his final year of eligibility for the University of Colorado in Boulder finishing as an NCAA All-American in the Discus. With more than 20+ years of elite training experience, he's had the honor and privilege to study and work with some of the world's most elite coaches including: Tony Ciarelli, Art Venagas, and Mac Wilkins.

Here is our interview with Coach Johnson at the AZ Track and Field Coaches Clinic in Phoenix.
