Georgia Military Boys Repeat and Kirkland Takes Overall Win

Champ Aaron Kirkland of GMC

They dominated A Public all Fall, and no one was good enough to push them at Carrollton, as Coach Barsby's troops won easily scoring 51 points. The Bulldogs placed 2 on the All-State squad, including Individual Champ Aaron Kirkland. After finishing behind his team mate Hunter Kimball in 2016, Kirkland had only 1 runner challenge him thru 2 Miles before pulling away for the win in 17:37 (:38 improvement from 2016 State) Jacob Kauzlarich placed 6th at 19:09 earning All-State as well.

Gordon Lee was a strong 2nd, earning 3 All-State nods, led by Jasper Wilson's runnerup finish of 18:29. Ian Goodwin was 4th Overall in 18:57 and Jake Lee 10th at 19:24. Baconton (south of Albany a few miles) took the 3rd Team Podium spot without having a top 10 runner, which is unusual in A Public. Jaquez Jones led the Blazers' with an 11th place effort of 19:24. Grabbing the final spot on the Podium was Commerce HS, as the Tigers were paced by Jose Manuel Verde's 7th Overall finish of 19:20.

Having a great race, from a school with an improving program, was Leo Lopez from Greene County. Lopez handled the hills well posting an 18:43. Rounding out the top 10 not mentioned above were: Grant Cook of Telfair (5th-19:05), Erick Rodriguez of Mt.Zion Carrollton (8th-19:21) and Bryce Murkerson from Hawkinsville (9th-19:22)
