10th Annual Milton Showcase Preview

10th Annual 2017 Milton T&F Showcase Meet Preview

By Coach Andy Carr

The Eagles nest will be the site of the 10th Annual T&F Showcase meet at Milton High School this weekend and many stadium/meet record marks are in jeopardy of being broken as the field of athletes is one of the strongest ever to attend this year's meet.

GIRLS

The event of the meet on the girls side maybe the event of the meet, the pole vault literally showcases one the best in Georgia in Becky Arbiv of The Weber School. Arbiv (13'7") is the 2nd highest vaulter in the US this indoor season and is already the meet/stadium record holder at 11'8" a year ago. There are 2 more vaulters also entered that have entry marks that exceed the current record!

Events where the top-entrant has a PR better that exceeds the meet/stadium record:

200m-Morgan Millikan of Mt Pisgah (24.44)

400m-Cecily Mohammed of Chattahoochee (57.59)

2-mile-Macki Walsh of Etowah (10:59.27) & 3 more also have run sub-11:27.06, the meet record

Triple Jump-Rachel Edler of Chambee (37'8.5")

BOYS

The distance races look to be the deepest of the fields of events on the boy's side of the meet. Strong programs from state cross country team champions Blessed Trinity, host Milton, Walton & Mill Creek bring their top-runners to race over a variety of distances that aren't normally run at many meets in Georgia. 1500 meters, 1-Mile, 2-Mile & 5000 meters will see very competitive races! Individual state cross country champions Sam Bowers of Milton & Ben McCoy of Blessed Trinity are in a top-flite 5000 meters with Georgia newcomer Nicholas Yanek of Milton & perennial top-finisher Andrew Singh of Walton.

The high Jump also contains 8 athletes that have scaled 6 feet or better led by Caleb Guidry of Roswell with a 6'6" entry mark. The long jump features Ja'Von Douglas of Chattahoochee who has gone 23'11.5" which is 15" further than the current meet best!

Events where the top-entrant has a PR better that exceeds the meet/stadium record:

Pole Vault-Jack Haller of West Forsyth (14'7")

Shot Put-Nate Wonsley of Roswell (53'4")

The meet begins Friday evening with the 5000 meters and running events. Saturday's action starts at 10am with the first session of field events followed by the running events starting at 10:30am with the 2-mile run.
