UNG Collects Second Consecutive PBC Cross Country Championship Runner-Up Finish

Brittany Truitt and Jenna Tilton Earn All-Conference Honors

GAINESVILLE, Ga. | For the second consecutive year, the University of North Georgia women's cross country team earned a runner-up finish at the Peach Belt Conference Championship race held on Saturday morning on the UNG Cross Country Course.

Montevallo won the team title with 26 points.  North Georgia was second with a score of 93, finishing 10 point ahead of third-place UNC Pembroke.

Individually, Young Harris' Nancy Murgor traversed the 6K course in 22:12 to run away with the individual title.

UNG's Brittany Truitt finished seventh out of 97 runners with a time of 22:57, earning her All-Conference honors.  The junior from Villa Rica shaved 14 seconds off her time on the same course at the UNG Invitational on Sept. 19.

Jenna Tilton ran her best race of the year with a time of 23:35, which was good for 13th place and earning her a spot on the All-Conference team.  Her time was 19 seconds better than her previous personal best 6K time.

UNG's team depth as on display again as the Nighthawks' final three scores crossed the finish line within five second of each other.  Caitlin Connell (24:13, 23rd), Brianna Moring (24:14, 24th) and Allyssa Sheffield (24:18, 26th) rounded out the scoring for head coach Tom Williams' squad.

North Georgia's Emily Sims was honored as a member of the PBC All-Sportsmanship Team.

The PBC Conference Championship was the first-ever hosted by North Georgia.

In conjunction with the NCAA Division II Military Pilot program, UNG Operation Nighthawks of Honor honoree CPL Thomas Coggins was honored for his service in a pre-race ceremony. The UNG Boar's Head Brigade Color Guard and Patriot Choir also performed prior to the race.

North Georgia will next toe the line on Saturday, Nov. 7 when the team travels to Charlotte, N.C. to participate in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional hosted by Wingate.
