Miller Kettle of GAC Takes Advantage of a late Miscue Winning the AA 1600

The AA 1600 was as wide open as it could get with a crazy ending. Miller Kettle of GAC and Spencer Fields from Darlington. However, someone had a big upset in mind as Lovett's Everett Smulders woke them up before too long taking the lead in a nice move passing both looking strong. Then the unexpected occurred as Smulders may have lost balance looking behind, hitting the track hard as Kettle (who had been closing the final 200) stepped around him in lane 2 crossing for the win in 4:23.24. With the crowd chanting (and pa announcer) for him to get up and finish, Smulders crawled across the line for 2nd in 4:29 as Fields was closing in taking 3rd in 4:31. 4th was Carl Ellis Corley from Bleckley County in 4:41 nipping Nicholas Klayvohn of Lovett in 5th 4:41 (-.40)
