The race started off as everyone anticipated with Helen Williams, Nicole Fegans and Hurley taking it early and Shannon Fair of Aquinas, Sarah Foeman and Sophie West in a 2nd group. The fisrt 4 laps was a game aof cat and mouse as the 3 leaders stayed in a compact bunch with Williams leading nearly all the way. Then about 100 meters into lap 5 Hurley made a move creating about 10 meters of separation with Fegans trying to go with her and Williams (who made a great comeback this Track season after an injury knocked her out of 2014 XC) trying to hang on. It was to no avail as Hurley kept up her pace perhaps running negative Splits running alone the final 2 laps with around a 60 meter margin of victory setting a new State meet record in 10:38.01. Fegans to her credit kept charging placing 2nd in 10:48, with Williams 3rd at 11:06. Shannon Fair of Aquinas never letup going 11:12 for 4th place. In a great race for 5th down the stretch Sarah Foreman hit another gear the final 100m (showing alot of potential in the 800) running down Sophia West of Paideia by .10 both clocking 11:21
