Boys Preview of the 4th Annual Westlake Lions Showcase

Rashaad Pollard of Westlake will be a contender in the Sprints

Sprints

The boys 100 meters will have a field where 8 guys have ran under 11 seconds. This 100 meter race can be up for grabs between Clark of Banneker, Pollard & Poole of Westlake, Hubbard of Sandy Creek, & Crawford of Rockdale. The 300 meter dash favorite goes to a highly recruited football player who also has great track speed whose name is Nigel Warrior of Westlake aka "Jim Brown". In addittion, Banneker's Kden Johnson & Xavier Poole will also be in contention to battle for a first place award.

Hurdles

The boys short hurdle race will be a great race to watch since Greer of Rockdale & Flagler of Westlake will be 2 of the top 110 hurdlers early in the season. Both of these guys have great techniqe and speed. In addittion, junior Wesley Watkins looks to make his mark in this race also. Greer of Roackdale will also pull double duty by transitioning to the long hurdles & will battle with Simmons of Mount Zion which will make a great race since both of these guys have great endurance for the last 100 meters of the race.

Relays

41 low is where Westlake boys 4x1 "A" team finished off there season with last year and this year their relay squad is looking to do something special! However; Banneker, Rockdale, & Westlake's B team look to make a challenge against them. In addittion, Westlake 4x4 relay will also look to make thier mark in the 4x4 while Banneker & Rockdale want make it a easy relay run for them. On the 4x8 side Rockdale is the favorite with a 1:54 leg on thier team.

Distance

The 800 meters has 2 guys who have ran under 1:55 and that would be White of Morrow & Dawkins of Rockdale. Fresh off thier state championship run, the Clarkston boys have 2 leading entries in the mile race and they look forward to transition their running to the track.

Field

The Rockdale boys team have a very strong field and they are looking to score BIG in the shot during this track season. Bennett & Thomas of Rockdale can both possibly finish in the top 5 at the state meet by the end of the year.
