The Girls 1A Public Start featured the 79 best runners representing their 11 schools.  Hannah Whitehead #2323 opened up her stride and wasted no time grabbing the lead.

                                                                                                                                                         THE RACE

State Champion Hannah Whitehead led Towns County to the Girls 1A Public Team win.

This race actually was very competitve for the top team spot and only 17 points Split the 3 thru 7 squads! Two teams came into Saturday that were much faster than the field that included 11 full scoring teams. Towns County and Commerce quickly made it up front outclassing the field repeating their Area meet results almost as Towns won by 14 points 53 to 67.  The teams had identical 1-5 Splits, but Towns had faster runners in their 3-5 making the difference. Hannah Whitehead won her first GHSA Individual title going 21:47 for a comfortable :47 margin of victory. Towns has now won 3 consecutive A Public Girls titles which should help build their program even further.  Commerce put 3 gals on the All-State squad led by frosh kate Massey's 2nd place effort in 22:34.   Only 10 points separated the next 5 teams chasing Podium dreams with Jenkins County taking 3rd place by 3 points over Trion. Just missing out in order of finish were Atkinson County, marion County and Hawkinsville.

Kate Massey of Commerce earned the Silver medal with her time of 22:34.18
