Clarkston's #2 ranked boys had an easy time of it in this region cruising to the team title scoring 20 points (17:15 team average.  Abbas Abbkar  (pictured above) had his legs full with Druid Hills' soph Emais Tewolde pushing him throughout the race, but came out on top clocking a 16:51 at the moderately challenging Druid Hills MS course. Tewolde croosed behind him for 2nd in 16:51 pacing his team's 2nd place finish and Clarkston's Suheib Mohamed placed 3rd at 17:06. Clarkston and Forsyth Central are on a collision course in 2 weeks. 
 
Dunwoody's girls slammed the door early placing 5 of their runners in the top 8 scoring 27 points while apparently holding something back for State looking at their team average (22:21) Paulette Jueing of Druid Hills took advantage seizing the Overall win in 21:18 leading Druid to 2nd teamwise,  followed by SW DeKalb's Kayla Willis in 2nd at 21:31.  Every team Q'd for State in this race.

This meet was contested at Packer Fields down in Moultrie on last Thursday kicking off a crazy 9 days of Region meets in which many teams will rejoice and others have their hearts and souls broken after hundreds of miles of training including blazing hot Summer runs.  Everyone but Colquitt's boys will be moving on to State. Lowndes boys smoked the course and competition scoring 23 points with their top 5 placing in the first 7 finishers. Junior Chance Roe led the Viking's pillaging winning the Overall title in 16:59. Not far behind was soph Matthew Baum of Valdosta in 17:08 and Robert Grooms of Lee County (17:13). Tift County's girls upended defending champ Lowndes (who graduated their core runners) by 12 points. Top runners for Tift were Sloan Fletcher in 4th and Madison Honeycutt placing 5th. The home folks had something to crow about as freshman Elizabeth Funderburk of Colquitt has been doing her homework winning the Overall title in a swift time of 19:19.

Every school that brought a team of 5 runners qualified for state out of this region. Lakeside DeKalb and Rockdale County's boys are both formidable 6A squads that will be competitve in Carrollton.  Lakeside was hitting on all cylinders though scoring 19 points led by Davis Stockwell who had a tremendous duel with Rockdale soh Dax Willette as both crossed the line .04 seconds apart with Stockwell winning by a nose in 16:15.91!  Lakeside DeKalb's depth proved superior as they had a team average of 17:19...Lakeside's Girls perfect scored their opponents led by Morgan Mihalis (20:15) and Corrie Smith (20:21)

The 5-AAA meet was contested at Georgia Highlands College this past Saturday. The course is on the soccer field and around Paris Lake at the college. The course is mostly flat and fast...Currently there are no teams from 5-AAA that are ranked in AAA. Central (Carrollton) won the team title scoring 41 points led by Dallin Anderson's 4th place finish in 18:35. The Individual Boys champ was Brian Vincent from Pepperell posting a winning time of 17:32.  Callaway won the girls team title scoring 21 points defeating the only other squad with 5 runners to score (Central) from which Elizabeth Minick was the top medalist at 22:48.
