Alan Webb To Be Onsite for 3rd Annual Nike Panther Invitational
We are excited to have Alan to the meet on Saturday to talk with athletes, take pictures with them and sign autographs. We will also, start the races and hand out the awards at the end of the meeting.
It is a great opportunity for these high school athletes to meet one of the top American distance runners. With 37 teams coming to the meet, there will be an opportunity for a lot of team to meet Alan.
He has a real interest in youth and encouraging young runners to work towards their goals. On Friday night, Alan will be joining several of the local teams for dinner.
Alan Webb holds the American record in the mile at 3:46.91, breaking Steve Scott’s 25 year old record, making in the 8th fastest miler in world.
Alan Webb also holds the high school American record in the mile at 3:53.43 breaking Jim Ryun’s 36 year old record.
