Varsity Boys

The boys will be firing on all cylinders with some serious contenders up front. The favorite coming into the race after a stellar freshman year for most is Sean Parker (Pickens County), but with him coming off Plantar Fasciitis the door is open for others to take the victory. Sean will be in company up front with Max Warner (Forsyth Central), Brennan Garriques (Creekview), Taylor Scarbrough (Cherokee), and Milton’s duo of Jack Bluth and Clay Marshall. With close to 15 sub-17 minute runners coming into the race the times will be flying. Teams will all be chasing the favorite, Milton, who look like clear favorites when not looking at non-normalized PR’s other teams ran last year. Milton returns six runners from their state team and is looking to make a statement for all of 6A. The 2nd place team coming in looks to be Cherokee, with others following suit after. As Etowah boys will also be down in Savannah. Don’t count out their next group to challenge Creekview, and Forsyth Central for a trophy. Holy Innocents’ is showing up to prove that a 2A school can compete as well with the big dogs, keep your eyes out!

Varsity Girls

In the varsity girls’ race, the race will be a solid race with a deep field individually. The top individuals coming in are Caitlyn Farrell (Cherokee) and Milton’s duo of Riley Burr and Juanita Pardo. Others throwing in their hat will be Rachel Boulineau (Creekview) and Caitlin Craft of Heritage Catoosa. 11 Girls come in with sub-20 times from the previous season and after a full track season and summer training they are ready to race. Teams looking to compete are Milton and Heritage Catoosa for the crown as Etowah’s varsity is heading to Savannah and not up to Jasper. So, 4A Heritage is looking to prove they can hang with 6A Milton, as Milton is looking for redemption as last they ran XC their #1 did not finish which held them out of the state meet last fall. The next teams looking to spoil someone’s day and leave with a trophy are Pace Academy, Creekview, and Holy Innocents’.
