Former South Oldham Runner Hannah Ellis Named SAA Track Athlete of the Year

The Southern Athletic Association released its track and field postseason awards earlier today, voted on by the league's coaches, and Centre's Hannah Ellis (Crestwood, Ky.) was named Women's Track Athlete of the Year after an outstanding junior season.

During this season, Ellis set Centre records in both the indoor and outdoor 3000m steeplechase as well as the 600m. Between indoor and outdoor seasons, Ellis has set six different Centre College women's track records in her three years in the program thus far.

Ellis won five races during the 2014 indoor and outdoor track seasons, finishing first in the 600m, 800m and 3000m steeplechase at various points. She also was an individual conference champion for the Colonels, taking first place in the 800m at last week's SAA Championships in Conway, Ark.  It was the second individual event conference title for Ellis, as she also won the 3000m steeplechase at last season's SAA Championships at Sewanee.
