Miller Grove Squeaks by Pope and Northside WR Capturing 5A Title

 

 
Northside WR began their amazing run in the 4x100m relay easily taking the Gold clocking the fastest time of the day so far in 46.82 (and with talented athletes the likes of Cassondra Hall and Tia Williams would one expect any less?) New Manchester began their climb upwards placing 2nd in 47.33 with North Springs taking 3rd in 47.67  Miller Grove cranked up their machine having 2 squads in the finals grabbing 4th and 6th tallying 8 points.
 
 
Tia Williams was just too long and swift in the 400m taking the Gold for NSWR in 56.09. Niata Alexander boosted New Manchester's hopes seizing a Silver medal in 56.73 while Dollita Thomas of Northview placed 3rd in 56.87.  
 
 
Cassondra Hall then took the track and smoked everyone clocking a 11.66 (much to her delight) again pushing the Eagles closer to Pope and Miller Grove. Sydney Wright of NS Columbus raced to 2nd in 12.19 outleaning New Manchester's Anika Carter in 12.20. Pope picked up valuable points getting 4th by Hope Glenn in 12.28.  
 
 
Miller Grove relied on their strength in the 100h adding 14 points as track star Tiffany Flynn glided over the hurdles taking 1st in 13.96 and teamate Pauline Arndt placed 5th. Pope also did well with hurdler Athena Carpenter outleaning Lauren Epps of Forest park at the line for 2nd in 14.651  
 
 
The 800 threw a changeup at the contenders as Kiera Washington from Tucker and Marielle Lewis of Kell had a dogfight coming down the homestretch as washington took the lean winning in 2:19.90 to 2:19.94 (Lewis) Although nothaving her best race, Tatiyana Caffey of Miller Grove placed 7th giving the Pirates 2 valuable points. 
 
 
The 200m was nearly a repeat of the 100m race as Hall again strutted her stuff easily adding another Gold to her resume in 24.14, but Alexander of New Manchester seized 2nd in 24.75 with Wright of NS Columbus back in 3rd in 24.85. Pope gain added crucial points as Glenn placed 6th while Miller Grove's Arndt took 7th.
 
 
In the 300h Morgan Hubbard of Heritage (Conyers) ruled the roost racing to a Gold in 42.94, with Epps of Forest Park 2nd in 43.56 and Saleigh Derico from North Springs 3rd at 43.79. Carpenter of Pope competed hard placing 5th ending Pope's scoring chances giving the Greyhounds a slim 3 point lead going into the 4x400.  
 
 
NSWR was on their game again ending their season on an incredible high note taking the Gold in 3:48.91 with Arabia Mountain placing 2nd in 3:52.73, and New Manchester 3rd in 3:54.32. Miller Grove did their job placing 5th overtaking Pope by a single point for the 5A crown.
