Foot Locker Nationals, Kathryn Foreman Blog Day 1

Foot Locker Nationals, Kathryn Foreman Blog Day 1

We arrived at the Hotel Del Coronado around 3:00pm. As soon as we arrived, we went to our rooms to meet our roommates! My roommate is Hannah DeBalsi, a sophomore from Westport, CT. Then we went downstairs to pick up our gear... Oh my goodness! They gave us so much stuff! They gave us spikes, trainers, hats, a sweatshirt, sweatpants, short and long sleeve shirts, our team south jersey, 2 pair of Asics pants... And there is no telling what else is to come!

Next, at 3:30, we went on a group run around Coronado Island! Grace Tinkey warned me that a lot of people go too fast on this easy run because of excitement, so I brought my GPS watch along to make sure that I went no faster than an 8 minute pace. Another south girl ran with me, and we were the last two people done with our run, so we looked rather slow, but only race day matters so we didn't care:)! We finished our run around 4:30. We had a south team meeting scheduled for 5:00, so I scrambled to get ready and made it to the meeting just in time! At the meeting, Footlocker Nationals director, Max Mayo, gave us some helpful tips about the race! Then we went to dinner, which was delicious! Next we made team shirts which was fun, but the shirts are rather... Interesting:)!

We went back to our rooms and got ready for bed since it had been such a busy day, and we all felt like it was 11 o'clock because of the time difference. The first day was really exciting and fun! It is such an amazing experience to get to know all of these INSANELY fast people! I am thankful to have the opportunity to be here.
